Part 2 Example MultiMarkdown

WARNING:
THESE ARE MY PERSONAL NOTES ON MY FIRST EBUILD.
THIS IS BY NO MEANS A USEFUL GUIDE OR ANYTHING SIMILAR TO ANYONE.
RTFM

I’ll try to write an ebuild from scratch and document the progress here.

Ebuild from scratch: Part 2 : Example Project: MultiMarkdown

I chose MultiMarkdown, because I want to learn Markdown and MultiMarkdowns standard installation for Linux is to build from source. Plus there seemed to be no ebuild for it.
The installation covers about 3 steps, it’s git-based and I’ve played around with another git-based ebuild lately.

Basic installation

git clone git://github.com/fletcher/peg-multimarkdown.git
make

Looks easy so far …

Advanced installation

Sub-Modules: The git-project has sub-modules, which might not be automatically pulled in.
It mentions running update_submodules.sh.
Tests: We might run some of these later.
